
Volvo is a Swedish maker of transportation facilities. The company produces trucks, buses, construction equipment, drive system (drive system) for marine equipment as well as industrial applications, aircraft parts, and finance companies. Companies that formerly was the car manufacturer was founded on April 14, 1927 in Göteborg, Sweden as a subsidiary of SKF, a company that manufactures bearings (kolaher). Volvo has been removed from the list of NASDAQ in June 2007, but is still listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange [1].
A Volvo Cars
Volvo is a Latin word which means "my turn", which is another form of the word "volvere". The name Volvo was originally registered for the first time in May 1911 as a company under the auspices of SKF AB and as a registered trademark which is planned to be used for a special series bearing, but this idea is only used briefly. SKF decided to use "SKF" as the brand for the entire bearing produced.
The company AB Volvo had no activities anything until August 10, 1926. Manager sales, Assar Gabrielsson, and engineer, Gustav Larson, forming AB Volvo as automakers came under the SKF Group only with preparation for a year, including producing ten prototypes. AB Volvo is registered on the Stockholm Stock Exchange in 1935 and SKF decided to sell its stake in the company.
Volvo car series that was first produced, the Volvo OV 4, left the factory on 14 April 1927. This date became the official date of the founding of Volvo.
In 1998, Volvo sold the car division to Ford. According to news from Ten Gears (UK) Ford might sell Volvo to the BMW division in the near future.

Volvo Group has its origin in 1927 when the first Volvo car left the factory in Göteborg sliding [2]. That year, made only 297 cars were made [3]. The first truck, series 1, began in January 1928. In 1930, Volvo sold 639 cars and export of trucks to Europe started soon thereafter [3]. Volvo cars are not well known outside Sweden before World War II ended [3].
Marine engines has become almost a part of this group for the truck. Pentaverken, which was founded in 1907, dominated the Volvo Group in 1935. However, since 1929, U-21 outboard engine was introduced, and manufacturing continued until 1962.
The first bus, named B1, was launched in 1934 and the aircraft engine was added to the range of Volvo products ever developed in the early 1940s.
On January 28, 1998, the Volvo Group sold to Volvo Car Company Ford Motor Company for $ 6.45 million USD. Volvo Group is now only focused on commercial vehicles. Volvo Group's position in the commercial vehicle field is strengthened by mastering Renault Trucks and Mack Trucks in 2001, and thus this group began to open branches in France and the United States.
In the last ten years, the Volvo Group's growth in services is very fast with, for example, providing financial solutions to support the sale of its manufacturing units.
